All thirteen positions on the new Amherst Town Council will be filled in the fall elections. These include ten District Councilors, two from each of the five Districts (each of which combines two precincts), and three Councilors-at-Large. Candidates for District Councilor must obtain the signatures of 25 voters from their district, while candidates for Councilor-at-Large need 50 signatures from Amherst voters. Completed forms must be returned to the Town Clerk by June 29.

Primary elections will be held on September 4 (coinciding with the state primary election) wherever the number of candidates is more than twice the number of available seats. The final election will be November 6.
