LWVA Supports West Bay Road Pedestrian Improvements

The League of Women Voters of Amherst is urging the Department of Public Works to include the West Bay Road Pedestrian Improvements in the FY 2018 budget so that work can begin in 2017. In a letter to the Department, the League noted that the proposal has several components, and urged that "the overall project be planned together, as a coherent unit, with emphasis on pedestrian safety" and that "local residents...be involved in the planning process.

School Vote Information Forum September 28

The school project will require a Proposition 2 1/2 debt exclusion question on the November 8, 2016 State Election ballot for Amherst Voters. A forum on Wednesday, September 28, 7-9 p.m. in the Amherst Regional Middle School Auditorium, will give the community an opportunity to hear different views. The forum is being organized by the Amherst League of Women Voters

William Diehl, the Executive Director of the Collaborative for Educational Service, presented a talk on "The Disproportionate Impact of Charter Schools on Rural and Small Districts" at the LWVA Opening Meeting on September 14.
