The League of Women Voters sponsored a forum for candidates for town-wide office on October 28 at the Bangs Center, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Under the new Amherst Town Charter, the entire membership of the Amherst School Committee and the Library Board of Trustees, as well as the Oliver Smith Will Elector, is to be elected for two year terms (2020-2021). The three elected members of the Housing Authority will also be on the November 5 ballot. The only contested election, for which there are more candidates than seats, is the School Committee.
The candidate forum featured panel discussions by candidates for the School Committee and for the Library Trustees. Candidates for other offices were invited to introduce themselves briefly to the audience.
