“I really learned some new ways of thinking about mental health.” “I didn’t know about these resources for supporting good mental health.” These are examples of the comments from folks who participated in the March 11, 2015, program Good Mental Health. It starts with a conversation. The event was jointly sponsored by the western Massachusetts Department of Mental Health and the LWVA Health Care Committee and co-sponsored by thirty additional organizations, demonstrating the range of interest in this important topic.
Over 90 participants from the League and general community attended. The evening featured three members of the Recovery Learning Community who described their own mental health challenges and the community supports that help them lead full lives. These presentations were followed by small group discussions in which all participants were able to ask questions, share their concerns, and talk with Recovery Learning Communities members.
If you have questions about services for supporting good mental health for yourself, family or friends, or if you would like to talk about providing this program to another organization, please call Jenifer Urff, Director of Recovery, western Mass Department of Mental Health, (413) 587-6478.
