Thursday, June 25, 2020 was a beautiful day. It was also the 100th anniversary of Massachusetts' ratification of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, the amendment that, after ratification by another 28 states a few months later guaranteed women's right to vote. In commemoration, the Amherst League of Women Voters sponsored a walk through downtown Amherst, from Kendrick Park to Amherst Town Hall. Many of the walkers were dressed in white, like the suffragists of 100 years ago, although masked and keeping their distance.
