2020 Election Dates

February 12:  Last day to register to vote or change party affiliation for Presidential primary election.

February 24:  Early voting for Presidential primary begins.

March 3:  Presidential Primary

August 12:  Last day to register to vote or change party affiliation for state primary election.

September 1:  State primary election

October 14:  Last day to register to vote in November general election.

October 19:  Early voting for general election begins.

November 3:  State and Presidential election.

November 5 Town Elections

Under the new Amherst Town Charter, the entire membership of the Amherst School Committee and the Library Board of Trustees, as well as the Oliver Smith Will Elector, is to be elected for two year terms (2020-2021) in the November 5, 2019 elections. The three elected members of the Housing Authority will also be on the November 5 ballot. The only contested election is for the Amherst School Committee, where six candidates are competing for five seats.

The League of Women Voters sponsored a forum for candidates for town-wide office on October 28 at the Bangs Center, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.  Election Day is November 5.
