The League of Women Voters of Amherst was presented with the Amherst Area Chamber of Commerce’s Community Service Award at the Chamber’s annual dinner on October 1.
Why us? Why now?
As for the “why now”, perhaps it is related to the fact that LWV of Amherst is one of the oldest local Leagues in the country, now in its 77th year. That’s 76 years and counting of making democracy work in Amherst, in Massachusetts, and at the national level. For details of the “why us”, read the “biographical statement” prepared for the Chamber and an interview with former LWVA co-president Cynthia Brubaker recorded for the October 1 banquet.
