Months—years, in fact—of work by members of the League in Amherst and across the state of Massachusetts have resulted in some polished products that you can use to educate yourself and others. All of these can be found at the LWVMA web site.
These tools were developed by the Campaign Finance Study Committee of the League of Women Voters of Massachusetts. The study committee was created soon after the 2013 LWVMA Convention approved a study of this issue (May 2013). Its members are drawn from 18 Leagues across Massachusetts.
The toolkit will eventually include several versions (long, short, narrated or not) of a slide show. This is a new and improved version of the slide show that has been under development and in use by the Concord/Carlisle League and our own Follow the Money group for several years. In addition, the primer “Money in Politics: Developing a Common Understanding of the Issues”, large parts of which were prepared by members of the LWVMA study committee, has now been officially released by LWVUS as part of the two-year program on structures of democracy adopted by the 2014 national Convention.
