Join your local Amherst League of Women Voters and be part of an organization that is:
Empowering millions of voters to exercise their right to vote by holding voter registration drives, sponsoring candidate forums and debates, and informing the public about how to make their voices heard;
Protecting the right to vote and ensuring that every vote is counted by fighting for free, fair, and accessible voting systems;
Advocating for positive change at the local, state, and national level on issues such as civic education, government accountability, and money in politics; and
Fostering civil dialogue about important community issues, such as racial justice, education, fair housing, environmental stewardship, immigration, and civil liberties.
When you join, you receive membership in the national, state and local chapters. Your membership will be good for one year, and then will be renewed on a rolling basis; so look for your renewal email at this same time next year.
The League of Women Voters (LWV) is a nonpartisan, grassroots nonprofit dedicated to empowering everyone to fully participate in American democracy. And we need you!
Who are we?
The Amherst chapter of the League of Women Voters has approximately 152 members currently.
League membership is open to Men and non-binary people as well as Women, despite the name!
We welcome membership and participation from students in our local universities. Students are a significant proportion of the Amherst area population and we would love to come to events on campus to reach out to interested students.
The League of Women Voters is non-partisan. Whether you are registered as a Republican, Democrat, or Independent voter - we just want you to participate.
